Our News – September 2022
For many persons, September is a new beginning because it ushers in a new academic year and at least in the North, many organizations have taken a break from regularly scheduled meetings during the summer months.
We are pleased to share with our readers that nine of the younger members of our Congregation are beginning a four-month experience at our motherhouse in Rome. This opportunity is given to our sisters after they have lived several years as professed members of the congregation. These women are members of the SMR Region of Madagascar and the Region of Uganda/Kenya/Congo.
These months are offered to the sisters as a time to integrate and deepen what they have learned during the first years of their religious and renew their commitment for the years that lie ahead. One of the profound gifts of the experience will be an individually directed retreat experience. Please keep these women and those who will be mentoring them in your prayers.
We also want to share with our readers that during this month of September, our General Superior, Sister Aurora Torres of Mexico, and one of the General Councilors, Sister Rosa Vizcay of Spain, will be visiting the sisters of United States. Our SMR Congregation mandates that at least once during the six-year time of service of the Congregation Leadership, they visit each geographic region. The goal is simply to facilitate better knowledge and communication among us, and we trust the unity among the world-wide members is enhanced by these experiences.
Aurora and Rosa are visiting our sisters in Canada from September 1 to 13 when they will arrive in the United States. They will remain in the USA until September 27 when they leave to visit the sisters of the Region of Peru/Colombia/Panama. After that they will visit the sisters in Mexico and Guatemala – and finally in mid-November they return to the Motherhouse in Rome.
