Our News – November 2022

As the month of September began, we shared with our readers that we were anticipating a visit from our Sister Aurora Torres, general superior, and Rosa Vizcay, general councilor. Our SMR Congregation mandates that at least once during their six-year time of service of the Congregation Leadership, they visit the sisters of each geographic region.

On September 14th, Aurora and Rosa arrived from Canada and they remained in the United States until September 27th. During these weeks, they were able to visit each of our sisters in their different settings and many of us gathered in Riverview, Michigan for a weekend of conversation, prayer, and celebration. We do believe that these visits enhance the relationships and understanding among us as sisters of an international congregation for which we are grateful.

Just after Aurora and Rosa left the USA, our Sister Judy Frasinetti, completed her journey on this earth and went to her God on September 29, 2022. Judy had been suffering from leukemia since the end of 2021, so, although one is never prepared for death, we were forewarned as we watched it approach. Judy was born in California and entered SMR in 1970, so she was blessed with a long life in SMR and touched the lives of many through her ministry and presence. She was a forerunner in persuading all of us to learn and embrace the advantages of technological communications. May she rest in peace!
