Our News February 2024
Today, we have two pieces of good news to share about our international SMR Congregation.
General Chapter of the Sisters of Mary Reparatrix, April 28, 2025, to May 17, 2025: Religious Congregations commit themselves to regularly schedule meetings that are called “chapters”. These Chapter are either open to all members or representatives of all members convened to set the direction for the immediate years ahead and elect congregational leaders who are entrusted with facilitating that direction and the governance of the Congregation for the next time period. SMR has a general chapter every six years, and the preparatory reflection, prayer, and conversation has begun.
The theme of the 2025 General Chapter is the following: “Together, from our vulnerability, let us allow ourselves to be transformed by the Spirit, cultivating and circulating new life to live the mission by being a prophetic sign in today’s world.”
Recently, a small international group of SMR members have been invited for a three-week renewal time at the SMR Motherhouse in Rome. The sisters participating are from Mexico, USA, Madagascar, Uganda, and Nairobi. These women are seasoned members – having lived their respective commitments to SMR for decades. Time will be devoted to three different themes: economy and SMR lifestyle, another review of the life of our foundress, Emilie d’Oultremont, d’Hooghvorst, and finally a rereading of our SMR history.
We invite our readers to pray with us that both the three-week renewal time and the 2025 General Chapter of SMR will indeed be times of renewal and revitalization for all of us committed to manifesting God’s tender love to our wounded world.
